FINALLY ANSWERING! Why I am not in a relationship

Its no joke that I am 27 years old and I am now getting pressured by my relatives to be in a relationship.

And this is probably one of the blog posts that I am dying to share to my relatives both here in Manila and abroad to finally answer the coveted question: Alice, Why are you not in a relationship?

I get asked this question so many times I may answer while still writing an article and watching a Korean drama!

So to my relatives and everyone who is interested please read this article to know the 3 reasons why I am not in a the moment.

1. I prefer career advancement than a relationship status.

Being a 27 year old single woman, I have tons of time in my hands to be my own boss. I am currently focused on being a blogger and youtube content creator because I love what I am doing. It might not pay as much as when I was working in an office but it makes me happy and I want to be happier with my job right now.

And seriously I would prefer spending a whole day in the comfort of my room filming, editing and also writing stuff for my blog and youtube channel because my brain is constantly coming up with ideas that I get so pumped doing all those in a day.

2. I want to love myself more at the moment.

Most of my family didn't knew this but I was in a relationship 7 years ago. It was only a three month relationship which ended with me breaking up with the guy because he basically used me to get something. It got me burnt out with the fact that I might never be enough for anyone.

And after that happened, I went into a downward spiral of mishaps in my life which I will never regret because I became a better person after doing those. If you are thinking I became an alcoholic or I tried drugs -NO! I just went through a series of incidents which tested me as a woman. Thankfully I survived.

I decided that if I want to be loved unconditionally, I should love myself first. I actually love myself a lot more now than I had 7 years ago. It is a long process that actually required me to know myself more than I thought I knew. But I can say that I still need more time to love myself before I give that kind of love to another person.

3. I want to have fun with myself before I find THE ONE.

If ever I meet the one now or later, I want to have fun first. I want to experience all the things I only see in pictures and articles. I want to meet new people first to know more about myself before showing myself to that man that will make me the happiest girl in the world.

It might be going on a random road trip with my friends, or just looking up to watch the stars or maybe go party and be wild, I just want to have fun first with myself to have all these memories my friends will tell him as a way to embarrass me. But I am bat shit crazy anyway so what's new? haha!

So to my relatives who are so concerned towards my relationship status - please take a chill pill because I won't die alone, I promise. I just want to be my own person first before I share the rest of my life with someone else. And if I meet the ONE, I promise I'll host a party for all of you to meet him.

But for now please let me kick some balls to be my own boss ok?

I love you guys so much and thank you for being loving and super supportive of me!

Much Love!

Movie Review: Train To Busan

What happens if you combine two of my favorite things to watch - Korean and Zombie movies would probably be a mind blowing experience to me.

I was actually planning on doing a Kpop Friday on this but then again - its not entirely something that is only in Korea so its a movie review instead.

Hydro Manila Music Festival Making history happen!

It has been raining for the past few days. And it reminds me of the days I was a kid and my parents don't usually allow me to play in the rain because I had a weak immune system as a kid. I can't blame them because they know if I play in the rain the next few hours will be high fevers and a doctor's appointment. Luckily now that I am quite older I can do what I want which also means playing in the rain.

But seriously I won't just play in the rain anymore at my age - I'd rather party in the rain!

And I think I have a plan already by the end of the month for one - Hydro Manila Music Festival.

Am I obnoxious? Tell me.

I seriously come off as obnoxious or sarcastic OR snobby sometimes in person which is weird because I'm not!

The reason why I am sharing this to you internet friends is because I need your feedback about this - do I really sound like that in my posts?

Here is a situation I will share to you guys which just happened the other day:

Me and some friends were hanging out in Maginhawa then all of a sudden a random guy approached our table to talk to me. I am the kind of person that will entertain and talk to you but if I am not interested I will try to dismiss you and let you on your way faster than a McDonald's employee in the cashier - my time and yours don't want to be wasted more in frivolous talk so please spare us both the agony and get on with your life!

So this guy randomly talks to me and asks me if I do photography since he saw my camera in our table, I told him yes I do but only as a hobby.

He then just talks and talks endlessly on how I should improve my photography skills with the kinds of aperture setting and shutter speed shit that I already know. Mind you that this guy didn't even asked if he can see my portfolio (which is stored in my google drive) and I just had him ramble on and on and on like he is a professor of photography.

And at this point my friends started giving me the look that I need to throw away this guy because he is annoying so I did and here is what I said to him

"Hey thanks for the talk about photography, but unfortunately I already know those because 1. I actually study photography even if its a hobby and 2. why give me a lecture? you haven't even seen my portfolio"

He suddenly stands up looking really offended and says "I thought you were a nice girl but you are just as obnoxious as your ugly friends"

Hold up! Hold up!

At this point I was ready to give him the finger of truth and shove it down his throat but I just told him goodbye instead because he is not worth my time.

So tell me - am I obnoxious? I let the guy talk like he is in a symposium then when I dismissed him he tells me I am obnoxious?! really now?

So let me know on the comments section if I am. I won't be offended because I am asking your opinions about me. To my long time readers, you know how shitty sometimes I am so let out that bitch inside of you and let me know what you think. I would very much appreciate it.

In other news, I will be sharing to you guys some cool stuff but it is still in the works so I will let you know once they are good to go but I will update you more soon!

I am also thinking of updating my site because I feel it needs one since I have been using this format for the longest time - and yes I am getting bored by it haha!

Also! don't be a stranger and follow me on instagram guys I am more active there in updates so you can get more info there to some stuff going on so make sure to follow me! its @alicemate on instagram :D

So since the weather is making me crawl back to bed I will crawl back in because its so cold I will just spend today enjoying the cold weather - If you are feeling the same make sure to enjoy it but if you are working I am so sorry for you my friend.

Much Love!

That Frustrating WALL!

Over the weekend I had a meltdown.

I had a meltdown for not being good enough anymore.

Which means I had hit the wall of uncreativity. And it frustrates me.

Maybe due to the pressure from my mom (and other people) to get a desk job or  being broke, or the pressure of being "not good enough" to other people just made my brain shut down for a day.

And I was also sick so it made me feel worst than ever.

That day made me question why am I even writing in the first place if people don't recognize it right? It made me think that I am not good enough to be a blogger anymore because I'm getting to be too 'generic' like the others.

I spent the whole day just laying in bed and just crying that even my mom got concerned because she thought I was getting worst with my fever.

After crying out for several hours, I got the courage to get up and read something. And sure enough scrolling through reddit and 9gags made me realize something. Just like the millions of posts on those sites my post might have a small chance that it will be discovered, but it will be discovered somehow by other people in time.

It made me realize that yes, I am just like any other blogger out there, but I am still different in other ways.

I curse in some posts and say the real shit sometimes. I have insecurities that is all over my body, but people think I am perfect nonetheless.

I am lonely but definitely not alone on this journey.

To those that noticed how different I was last Sunday, thank you for noticing and just letting me know you are there. I was surprised in how much you know me when I am not my usual self.

If you guys don't know I have clinical depression so there are times that this quirky, crazy girl goes south with negative thoughts and just locks out the world in her tiny bubble.

Usually I would get over this slump in a couple of days or maybe weeks but thankfully I was able to get out faster than I thought. 9gag and Reddit did a great job.

So just to let you girls and guys know, yes! I am still here. I will continue to write even if I don't have tons of hits or followers, I will still write until my hands can't write no more. People might get offended with my posts, but that's okay at least I got the message through right?

So if you are stuck in front of that wall too make sure to get a sledgehammer and ram it through that wall as if it was your ex-boyfriend's face. You might get over it faster that way LOL.

I have yet to talk to my therapist this week because as you guys know therapy is fucking expensive so I need to earn some money first to get a session on its way. But maybe by the time I get the money I am over it so I might just pay some dues with that money.

Much Love!

Hush..Don't Breathe (My BreakOut Philippine's Experience)

One of things I am absolutely scared of is the dark. I feel that there is something or someone looking at me so even the thought of being in a dark room gives me the goosebumps.

Also the most unlucky part of my personality as a Capricorn is if you put me in a scenario in which a person's life (role play or real life) is in my hands and I didn't do something or anything that can save them would be the burden of me - for eternity.

This post is probably going to be the longest experience post I will ever make to date so be prepared. Go get your favorite tea, coffee, soda or maybe all of the above and get some snacks because I will tell you my experience trying out BreakOut Philippine's latest room called 'Hush'.

And also there might be some profanity in the experience part just to let you know that K?

Crash Course for First time Bridesmaids

This might be the first time I will say that in all the weddings I have attended this is the first time I became a bridesmaid.

I'm a freakin' bridesmaid guys!!!

First and foremost I will say that it is deeply an honor to be part of this event. The bride is actually one of my closest friends that I consider my sister so when she told me that she wants me to be one of her bridesmaids I felt overjoyed.

I did encounter some problems in the process because of financial constraints. The gown to be exact. But thankfully I was able to rent a gown for about 700 pesos that comes with free alterations in Marikina City. You can check the info about that on my vlog channel.

One of the things that I learned in this experience is that you need to be ready like a girl scout on the day of the wedding. Make sure to expect the unexpected. Which I didn't prepare myself for

The theme of the wedding is Royal Blue and Silver. So our gowns have to match the color as well. I had a long gown with a silver belt. Compared to the other bridesmaids I had the thickest silver belt because I had to cover up the ruching in the midsection. Also the back had some problems thankfully Tita Connie - Marica's Mom was able to help me do something about it.

Seriously Marica tell your mom I love her! She just saved me BIG TIME!

One of the things that I was also not surprised in doing is a dance with the bride, groom and some of the entourage. We danced in the song Trumpets - not my finest moment because 1. I am not a dancer by nature and 2. I have extreme stage fright when it comes to dancing which will require me to have some liquid courage which was not present in the occasion.

I am quite proud though in one part of the wedding which is me singing some sweet tunes for the Bride, Groom and the guests. I was a wedding singer in one part of my life so it was a walk down the memory aisle. That is one thing you can advise me to do without any struggle - Singing!

I almost forgot that moment that I almost got the bouquet. And honestly I don't want to get it so I really made it an effort that I don't get it. Not that I don't want to get married, but it will just put a lot of pressure from a lot of people that I need to get married because I am 27. Okay this topic is fit for another post so expect that really soon.

I also loved the souvenir because its a fan! I am a big sucker for these kind of things because its something that is very useful and would also remind you of that certain moment in your life. Unfortunately though someone took my fan which sucks because I don't know where I put it to even lose it in the first place! Yes I am that forgetful which sucks.

Overall, The wedding was such a success and I loved all of it. I have so much respect on people who do this kind of things and even to the couples who plan this special day because it is freakin' stressful! I have tried events planning before so I know the stress and the struggle is real but you can't show it.

I would just like to give a HUGE shout out to the newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Jerome and Joan Canlas. I know you guys are perfect for each other. Jerome make sure to make my girl smile everyday and I know there would times that you and my friend won't be able to see eye to eye but remember that you guys are a team so compromise. To my Pren, I am so happy for you on your special day, and this is the start of a new chapter for you so if you need some back up just let me know. I am one PM away remember?

Sooo this post is too long and I need to get back in bed because I am still curing the first stages of the flu. I need to drink a lot more because I am feeling dehydrated so wish me luck.

Much Love!

Friday Hang Out with Comedy Cartel Open Mic!

For most people, Fridays are reserved to kicking back and relaxing because its been a hard week - even for me!

And usually if you ask me what I will be doing on a Friday night, I might say usually its a Korean drama binge with a facial mask on (oo na! napaka boring ko! wag na magwala) but sometimes I put some twist to it by going out with friends and I can recommend why not hang out with Comedy Cartel if you prefer just a laid back time and a few laughs on the side.

Comedy Cartel is a group of people that practice stand up comedy in the Philippines. And they are the first of its kind in the country. If you want to watch legit stand up comedy I will recommend you to check out Comedy Cartel.

I was able to hang out with them about a week ago in BGC since they had an open mic night. It was a good experience because I was stressing out that week so hanging out with them and hearing them with their jokes is such a relief.

And compared to the comedy bar stint, with Comedy Cartel they have a set of comedians that you can't help but relate with their jokes say I AM THAT PERSON! and just laugh if off.

I was able to see also new faces from their line up because usually I would watch Tim Tayag, Mike Unson, Che Defensor and Chip Balbuena. I am really sorry though because I forgot your names! If ever we see each other again I promise I will remember your names not just your faces.

And if you want to check them out make sure to follow them on Comedy Cartel's Social Networking sites like Facebook and Instagram so you will know if they have an open mic and join us!

And I deeply apologize as well with my pictures in this post. My camera decided it doesn't want to give me good shots that night. But I definitely enjoyed a change of plans on that Friday night.

Much Love!

Royal Enfield opens its first exclusive store in Manila

For all the adrenaline junkies out there you might want to check out Royal Enfield as they opened their first exclusive store in the Philippines!

As being the fastest growing motorcycle brand in the world today, Royal Enfield has opened their first exclusive store in Manila recently. Located at  7462 Bagtikan Street, San Antonio Village, Makati City, Metro Manila, the 972 Sq.Ft. showroom was launched as part of its growth strategy in the South East Asia Region. This store has been set up by the Hardcore Brothers Custom Motorcycles Inc.

If you noticed the whole store is not like a typical store that showcases their items but also a meeting point for other motorcycling enthusiasts. The store has a full set of items from Royal Enfield motorcycles and gear that actually got me a bit excited since recently my brother has given me the opportunity to learn how to use his motorcycle.

If you haven't seen a Royal Enfield motorcycle you really have to. Their design has a classic design that is simple, evocative, tactile and also fun to ride. They are not intimidating to try so if you are a beginner, this is a good motorcycle to try.

It was a whole day event of their opening and there were a lot of motorcycle groups that came to the event and it was like a big reunion. There were also celebrities like Kim Atienza and Hideo Muraoka that graced the event. I didn't stayed long in the event because I lived so far from the venue but I really had fun.

So if you are looking for a place to hang out with other motorcycle enthusiasts or if you are a beginner looking for a high powered motor for that long drive make sure to check out Royal Enfield.

Much Love!

Re-Discovering The Female Heart

What is a Female Heart? Is it simply as it was said? Does it mean more?

That is actually the questions in my head when I was able to see the media preview of Linda Faigao's The Female Heart that UP Playwright staged from July 1 to July 10 at the Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Also being the directional debut of Banaue Miclat-Janssen  of UPPT which is also her silver year in the theater industry.

Set in the late 1980's the play follows Adelfa (played by Chase Salazar)
and her elder brother Anghel's (Played by Al Gatmaitan) struggle as resident of the infamous mountain of garbage popularly known as Smokey Mountain. Confronted by extreme poverty and her brother's ailing health, Adelfa agrees to become a mail-order bride in the United States.

This play shows the reality of life's tragedies which will awaken the spectator's about the vividness of pain and despair, but also our pursuit of love and hope.

Watching the play, I can see relate somehow in some instances in the play especially on the family structure. One thing that struck me is how Anghel took the role of being the father figure not just for Adelfa, but also with their mother. He did all he can so he can provide well for his family, but risking his life in the process.

I think the play is something to watch for because it showcases the diverse facets of what a female heart it. It is also not just limited to the gender but also your perspective on how to give love.

You can still check out The Female heart at Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero Theater at the University of the Philippines Diliman this weekend!

Here is the schedule of performances:

July 9 2016 3PM and 7PM
July 10 10AM and 3PM

Ticket Price:

500 PHP (Regular Ticket Price)
200 PHP for UP Student, Faculty, And Admin Employees
* Discounts are available for bulk purchases and senior citizen.

Make sure to check out the Female Heart this weekend with your friends and family!

Much Love!

Jollibee's Pinoy and Proud Celebration!

If you girls have been following me on my Instagram account (Which I hope you are) You would have probably seen me flooding your feed with posts from Jollibee's #PinoyAndProud celebration countdown last June 11.

And to be honest I am still not over it. So here is a low down on the happenings on that night that I wasn't able to tell you girls.

As being the nation's number one fastfood chain, Jollibee threw the biggest and star-studded Independence Day celebration last June 11 at the Metrotent in Pasig City. This event brought together world-class Pinoy talents for a grand salubong of the 118th anniversary of our national independence.

With the hashtag #PinoyAndProud, Jollibee's Independence Day Celebration and countdown showed incredible performances from the most in demand OPM artists such as KZ Tandingan, Lyka Gairanod, Darlene Vibares, JK Labajo, Spongecola, Itchyworms, Darren Espanto and of course Sarah Geronimo.

Jollibee's celebrity endorsers Jodi Sta. Maria and her son Thirdy, Zoren and Carmina Legaspi with their twins Mavi and Cassy also joined in the festivities.

Another thing that Jollibee launched their second collaboration with the global fashion retail giant, Uniqlo which they had a fashion show of the T-Shirts that have a touch of Jollibee which you can check out now at all Uniqlo stores.

The whole celebration was filled with fun stuff. My highlight can be when Yael went to the crowd. It was awesome because everyone started getting more pumped up. And after that was Itchyworm's set which was definitely something I love the most because hey I got a selfie with Jugs!

I am such a nerd sometimes so don't hate.

Overall I really loved the event. It was fun, lively and also makes me proud to be a Pinoy.

I'll be uploading the vlog really soon. Internet at home is so slow I can't even handle it.

Were you there? What was the thing you liked about the event the most?

Much Love!

Photoescape Reviews: iWhite Korea 2 minute miracle whitening mask

Hey lovelies! I am back with a new review! And again this is A continuation of my review from my YouTube channel.

There are days that my skin looks dull and it is not a good look and usually at would mean I need some exfoliating or a mask done and I found something really  interesting which is iWhite Korea's 2 minute miracle whitening mask.

This is 24.50pesos at Watsons and its main claim is the mask can give the skin lighter and brighter skin in 2 minutes. It can also diminish blemish marks such as acne marks with its ingredients and control excessive oiliness while still keeping the skin moisturized.

Some of its active ingredients are
- Limonia Acidissima
-Lonicera Caprifolium extract
- Bambusa vulgaris leaf extract
- aloe vera leaf extract

These are the ingredients that will help the skin achieve that lighter and brighter skin within 2 minutes. I actually find pronouncing the first three ingredients bothersome and i would really like it if they would be able to say the simplified term as well. But it can be helpful to know these in the future right?

The product actually looks like a cleanser which has a shampoo scent. Its really weird but I actually like the scent.

Now let's do the transformation. Mind you I look really bad since I just cam home and took off my make up in the next shots so don't judge me!

Before. No make up. And haven't cleansed the face.

Have applied the product on the face. Make sure to apply sufficient amount to the face and let it sit in the face for about 1 minute.

And I actually did some wacky faces to see if constricts the face and it actually doesn't.

After 1 minute the product will have a liquidy consistency then you just have to massage in a circular motion to let the product be absorbed by the skin.

When I first used this product, I was really surprised seeing the white specks because that indicated the exfoliate part of the product.

And just wash off the product with cold water. The effects it will give in your face as it says will diminish acne scars, brighten the skin and also whiten it.

And here is a close up of my face. I actually like its effect in the skin because it has that instant brightening effect. But regarding the acne marks immediately disappearing, I don't think it will disappear with just one or two uses. I still see the acne scars I had but they have diminished only for a little bit.

What do I love about this product:

- It is locally available.
- It is travel friendly.
- It is affordable.
- Has a nice and not overwhelming scent.
- Does what it says.
- Did not break me out.

What I did not love about this product:
- None

Over all I love this product. Its something I have been using every week because I do see a difference, but I do have to try out other products so I will keep this on the side just in case.

I will recommend this product to girls who are looking for a skin brightening product that can also keep away the oiliness of the face. I can say that this product works but it will take some time to diminish those acne marks, but if you are just looking for a skin brightening product, this is for you.

So that's it for today's product review. Make sure to check out my youtube channel for more updates!

Much Love!
